Listen to the Earth

Listen to the forest as it sings: chorus of creatures fill the air.
Snakes hissing, chirping birds, chipmunk chattering,
winds whistling through the trees, humming wasps and bees;
this is life’s song! Now sing along!

Listen to the ocean as it roars, ragging with beauty and with power.
Seaweed and coal reef, sturgeons and whales,
waves tumbling, rumbling, washing shells to shore;
here beauty thrives! Open your eyes!

Listen to the desert as it calls, stirring the empty place within.
Vastness and open sky, lizards in the sun,
bristle cone pine tree, shale, scorpions;
Silence resounds! Spirit abounds!

Listen to the Earth cry out your name, inviting you to see anew.
Wonder and grandeur, beauty everywhere,
union, diversity, mystery is there.
Earth calls to you, “Build life a new day!”

Imagine the arms of Earth embracing all;
the Earth’s heart abiding deep within all things.
Might we realize Earth and life are one?

Imagine the Earth reflecting on its Self;

What if Earth’s consciousness is you and me?

Dust Alive

The dust of the stars is my flesh. The dust of the stars is my blood. Oh, the dust of stars holds the gift of life; stars transformed; stars reborn; dust alive!

The dust of the stars is your flesh. The dust of the stars is your blood. Oh, your flesh and blood, full of stars’ delight; becomes breath; becomes prayer; dust alive!

This present moment invites us to live so fully,
so deeply and true; this moment, creative and new.

To the Mystery that calls me, I say, “Yes!”
To the longing that beckons, I say, “Yes!”
To the truth that disturbs me, I say, “Yes!”
I say, “Yes,” to the One within All.
I say, “Yes,” to the One that is All.

For the suffering and broken, I say, “Yes!”
For the lost and forsaken, I say, “Yes!”
For the voiceless and ravaged, I say, “Yes!”
I say, “Yes,” to the One within All.

For the exiled and homeless, I say, “Yes”!
For those poisoned and dying, I say, “Yes!”
For those pushed to extinction, I say, “Yes!”

For the healing of the Body, I say, “Yes!”
For the sake of the Future, I say, “Yes!”
For the Life of the planet, I say, “Yes!”
